A dominant male slowly approached this adversary until the pair were really close to one another. There was silence and the air was thick with tension before the two clashed. The fight became very intense with these two males locking horns!
Male Waterbuck tend to fight more frequently than other antelope. Water-rich regions can only be controlled by a small number of males, which creates an ongoing source of conflict.
Usually, the loser of such a fight will take off quickly to avoid further injury, but in this case, the two found their match and the fight continued for over 40 minutes! Occasionally a fight between Waterbuck can leave either of the two fatally injured.
